Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral and is the defining stone for 3 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Its name is derived from the German word Calcit. Although Calcite can be found in various colors all over the world, blue calcite is predominantly mined in Mexico. These particular beads come in a distinct light blue color with yellow parallel lines going through them.
