Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral and is the defining stone for 3 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. Its name is derived from the German word Calcit. Although Calcite can be found in various colors all over the world, Cream calcite is predominantly mined in Afghanistan. These particular beads come in a cream color with brown and white parallel bands and the occasional shade of green.
